Exeter Chamber Children's Fund Final Count

I am so proud of 4-Estle for rasing $94.39 for the Exeter Chamber Children's Fund.
I matched this donation, and our class total was $188.78.
As a school we raised about $1,800!
This money will go towards helping local children get
warm clothing, jackets, and bedding for the winter.
Thank you for all of your support!

Volcano Project Information

Please use the below information to help you complete your volcano project.

Due Dates:
Estle - Volcano Due 2/9 - Presentations 2/11
Smith - Volcano Due 2/10 - Presentations 2/12

Presentation:
We will be working on the PowerPoint presentations here in school with Ms. Tabet during our technology instruction. All students will be expected to come to school on those days prepared with information to input into their PowerPoint presentations.

Mrs. Estle's Class will meet with her on the following Tuesdays: 12/8, 12/15, 12/22, 1/5, 1/12, 1/19, 1/26.

Mrs. Smith's Class will meet with her on the following Thursdays: 12/10, 12/17, 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28

Slide Layout:
Slide 1 - Name of Volcano, Your Name
Slide 2 - Introduction (Type, size, description)
Slide 3 - Location
Slide 4 - Eruption (Famous eruption, when, first signs, damage)
Slide 5 - 5 Interesting Facts
Slide 6 - Pictures of the volcano
Slide 7 - Bibliography

Paper Mache Volcano:
Please keep the size manageable for the students to transport. A tinfoil pie plate or lasagna pan, a shoe box or other disposable container with sides works best to keep the “lava” contained. One thing to keep in mind is that often times the students want to use large containers to build their volcanoes around, but these are usually the ones that don’t “erupt” because the reaction does not reach the top. Pint size bottles or smaller works best.

Chamber Children's Fund Challenge

As the winter season approaches, Lincoln Street School and specifically my class, would like to help support the Exeter Area Chamber of Commerce Chamber Children's Fund. This orginization  works to help area families by providing them with vouchers to purchase winter clothing and warm bedding.

I am calling out a challenge to my students!
I am challenging them to make donations of money to this fund and I will match each donation dollar for dollar* (*up to $100). I am also challenging them to donate the money that they have somehow earned by doing something helpful or kind. Please know that every little bit helps and even $.10 will be appreciated! This is also not a requirement

Here are a couple suggestions to get your student involved at home:
1. Every time you catch them being kind give them $.25

2. Offer a chore chart:
-Fold Laundry - $.50
-Clean Bathrooms - $1
-Parent's Choice - $1
-Take the Trash Out - $.25
-Sweep the Floor - $.25
-Vacuum - $1
-Make Bed - $.50
(Please note these can be adjusted to fit your family and are just suggestions).

The money our students have earned can be turned into the classroom until Friday, December 18th.
Thank you for your participating in this wonderful giving opportunity!

Kindness

I am so proud of the students in 4-Estle! Today they were given a Veterens Day word search to complete during morning work time. As students began to finish I noticed them offering to help others with tricky words, and those needing help accepting it graciously and respectfully. I struggled all day to find a way to show them how proud I was, I finally decided to give each student a "Caught Ya Card." We use these cards throughout LSS to recognize students who are being kind. I brought the box into the classroom to tell them why I was so proud and how I was going to recognize that, and then they surprised me again. I told them I would pass out the cards and they could put them in the box. The class then suggested that I call each person up so they could applaud each student as they put their card into the box. I am so proud of my students and hope they continue to be this kind!
