What kind of materials would you think would be the best insulator in a cold climate? Your mission is to create an insulated box that will keep an ice cube from melting.
Please collect the materials and assemble your box at home. Your insulated box is due to school on Friday 6/3.
Materials:
1 Shoe Box
Choose insulators from among the following (you can only use one, but you can layer the material or crush it).
Feathers
Paper towels
Aluminum Foil
Styrofoam (peanuts, meat trays, etc.)
*The box cannot weigh more than 2 lbs. Make sure your name is on it.
You will be given an ice cube and a ziplock back at school. Every 30 minutes we will be examining the ice cube and note when it is completely melted.
Today 4-Estle was very fortunate to have had an opportunity to Skype with Tyler Armstrong. The 12 year old who wants to try to summit Mt. Everest. We learned about his training for hikes, some hiking experiences and how he is still a regular kid!
Tyler is also raising money for CureDuchenne as part of his hike. We are trying to help Tyler with his initiative along with our hike of Mt. Major. Please visit our fundraising website if you would like to donate!
